My wife has been so sweet to give me surprise parties in the past. Now, it was her time. With the help of Karen’s mom and sister, we put together a surprise party to celebrate Karen’s 30th birthday.
We had a birthday party to attend in the afternoon for our friend’s Kevin and Jamie’s daughter, Kaitlin. So while we were at the party, Jessica and Mom T. began preparations back at our house and people began to gather. At about 5:15 PM, I was telling Karen that I was ready to go. She said she wasn’t ready to leave because she was having a good time. Jonathan did not help matters because he was having a blast too! So, it was time for me to get a bit ugly and selfish – there were too many girls, the Hawks are on, it’s too hot, … yada, yada, yada. Finally, she gave in and we left. I sent a text to Jessica to let her know we were on the way. We pulled up to our house and everyone in our family was out on the front lawn singing Happy Birthday. She was so surprised!
